ROUTE CHANGES 7/6/08:
Checkpoint No 5 has been moved from Foxes Tarn to the foot of the gully leading up to Foxes Tarn. From here the route will be flagged, keeping well north of the tarn, to rejoin the walkers path just below the summit plateau.
It is strongly recommended to head south from Slight Side for 200m before turning east, to avoid the dangerous Horn Crag.
A new fell race of classic proportions!

The route is packed with variety and includes much ground new to fell racing. After an eyeballs-out ascent of The Band to Bowfell, the route makes a high-level summit-hopping circuit of Upper Eskdale, including the two highest peaks in the Lakes: Scafell Pike and Scafell. There follows a mini-wilderness challenge from Slight Side to Blisco – fast running over the trackless reaches south of Great Moss. The final descent from Blisco is notably steep if you choose to take it head-on.
This race is being jointly organised by Ambleside AC and Lakes Runner, and supported by Lakes Runner.
Details have now been finalised and access agreements reached with the National Trust. The race now starts from Langdale (not Eskdale as previously advertised).
